Two comforting lessons for the worrier

Raise your hand if you tend to worry a lotโ€ฆ *fastly raises hand* Yeah, thatโ€™s me! I know what itโ€™s like to have swimming thoughts, feelings of anxiety& constant worries filling my head.

As much as I hate it, I jump to anxious โ€œwhat ifโ€ scenarios fueled from fear instead of looking for a positive outcome.

If youโ€™re reading this, then I assume you can relate somehow. The truth is that a life filled with worry& fear is such a burden to bear, and the weight can be crushing& painful!

But the good news? God never intended it to be this way! Nor does he want us to live a life of pain& worry!

The Lord does not want us worry. In fact, He commands us to be brave! And if God tells us to do something, He always makes a way for it to happen. If you feel suffocated by the weight of anxiety or worrisome thoughts, I have two comforting lessons to share with you today.๐Ÿ’—

God showed me these powerful revelations as I was reading Matthew 16:5-12 today. Today weโ€™re going to dive deeper into these verses& study two lessons for the worrier!(including me lol)

Lesson One

Matthew 16:5-10

I think this story of Jesus speaking with the disciples is such as intriguing one. At first it can seem confusing, but if you look closely youโ€™ll see an important message to be shared from this.

The first lesson the Lord showed me in verses five through ten is this: Donโ€™t forget what Jesus has done in the past.

When we worry, we are generally only looking to the future. Our thoughts are focused on whatโ€™s going to happen (or might happen) tomorrow, later in the day, the next hour, anything but what has happened in the past.

The truth is that Jesus always comes through. He never leaves us, forsakes us, or abandons us. He never has& He never will! We see Jesus reminds the disciples of this in this passage.

The disciples are worried about what they will eat next, so Jesus gently reminds them of how He provided a overabundance of food from the bare minimum multiple times. He had the power to feed thousands of people from one serving of food, and yet the disciples are still wondering where their next meal will come from.

When we ourselves worry about our lives, we are doing the same thing the disciples did. Weโ€™re forgetting how Jesus has always came through for us in the past& doubting that He can do it again.

If youโ€™re worrying about the future, choose to look at your past& remember what Jesus has done for you before! It should strengthen your faith& bring comfort like no other!

Lesson Two

Matthew 16:11-12

Another huge lesson that God showed me about worry is that it can cause us to miss powerful messages from the Lord. We can see in this story that Jesus is trying to teach the disciples through a metaphor. The mention of yeast& bread was not meant to be a reference to their next meal, yet all the disciples could focus on was what would be for dinner.

Jesus reminds them at the end of this passage that He was never talking about true yeast used in bread, but about the false teaches of the Pharisees the true message He was trying to teach.

When we worry, it causes our focus to turn away from God.

Weโ€™re caught up in our anxious thoughts& โ€œwhat ifโ€ scenarios& not focused on the faithfulness and goodness of our Lord.

Because our minds and hearts are elsewhere, we can truly be missing out on powerful messages, growth& comfort from God.

Just like the disciples missed out on the point of Jesus story because they were too concerned with their worries, we can also miss something important God is trying to show us.

When we can turn our thoughts away from the worries of the future& look at what God is doing in the present, we can experience tremendous growth and breakthroughs in our relationship with the Lord!

To recap, two comforting lessons to remember if youโ€™re a worrier:

  1. Remember what Jesus has done in the past. He always comes through!
  2. Donโ€™t let your worries distract you from the important message God is trying to show you.

If you worry a lot, there is freedom in Jesus Christ from the anxious thoughts!

Always pray& always seek His peace& He promises that you will find it!โคโค

Quiet time with God๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

Quiet time with God is such a important part of a Christian lifestyle. Being a Christian is about having a deep, intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

When we have a relationship with someone, what do we do? Usually we spend time with them, talk to them, get to know them, and trust them. This is how we should look at the function of our quiet time with God!

What does your time with Jesus look like? Everyoneโ€™s may look a little different, but the basic principles are prayer and Bible study. Below I wrote my quiet time routine to show you how I go about my quiet time with God!๐Ÿ’–

If youโ€™ve been going through a rough patch, I hope youโ€™ll get some inspiration to get back to God. Or maybe youโ€™re looking to make your quiet time longer and more in tune.

Either way, I hope I can provide some ideas youโ€™ll like that will help grow your faith and strengthen your relationship with our Lord!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’“

I always begin my quiet time by entering into Godโ€™s presence. This is done through praise& prayer! I always begin by praying out to God for his goodness& thanking God for everything I have and all he has done for meโค

Do you look at God as your rescuer? Your friend? Your comforter? Your faithful provider? Weโ€™ve all had unique& personal experiences with the Lord& therefore associate Him with different things. Praise Him for what comes to your mind first. Then fill in with other things from the Bible.

Do you know all of the amazing things that the Bible says about our God?

He is called many names throughout the Scriptures that reveal to us His nature. It always elevates my time with Jesus when I purposely use His Biblical names. It can truly help you to feel the Holy Spirit within and around you.

Below, Iโ€™ve put together a list of some of Godโ€™s names that are found in the Bible (in Hebrew and their English meanings). Feel free to save it and use it when you pray and praise the Lord!๐Ÿ™Œ

quiet time with God

Another great way that I love praising God is by reading from the book of Psalm. Psalm is full of songs and prayers praising the Lord and declaring who He is.(The book of psalms has some of my favorite scriptures ever!)๐Ÿ’—

My two favorites are chapters 107 and 118. Try reading these passages during your next quiet time& I promise you will feel the presence of Lord around you and feel his peaceful, loving holy spirit!โค๐Ÿ™

The last thing I do is praise God! I can be sitting in my room with Christian music playing, singing to the Lord& putting my hands in the air thanking God, and talking to God about my good or bad day and it feels just like I’m in church feeling the Lord’s holy spirit!๐Ÿ’—

You don’t have to go to church to feel God and his love! You can praise him wherever you are & still be doing it in God’s glory!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’—(praying in a church doesn’t make your prayer more special or important then doing it at home or wherever your at!) Be bold!โค

I encourage you to find Biblical references that lift you up in your personal weaknesses and help dismiss the lies that the enemy tells you about yourself!

Maybe itโ€™s depression, body image, feeling untalented, etc. Cover yourself in Godโ€™s truth each and everyday!๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

Quiet time with God is so helpful to me, because I know it brings me closer to God and helps with my anxieties& struggles knowing, I can talk to God with no judgements and know that I’m loved by him forever!โคโค

I hope that this helped some of you with your quiet time with our Lord! Its truly a blissful feeling having that quiet time to show him the praise and love he deserves!!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’•

Always looking to Jesus๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’•

I think everyone holds a little bit of bitterness in their heart. It’s a heavy, poisonous feeling that we feel when someone does us wrong, or you didn’t get that job you wanted, or maybe your still beating yourself up about a mistake you made.

Holding onto anger in your heart can seem a lot easier to do then to simply forgive and move on. I understand that feeling because I struggle with bitterness myself.

Bitterness is like a root. You can’t see the root, it’s under the ground, and it continually grows into a huge root.

Well bitterness is the same way. When you let bitterness take over your heart& spirit, you plant a seed in the ground for that bitterness to grow& weigh you down in life. And the water that grows our heavy bitterness root is our anger& negative thoughts.

In Ephesians 4:31-32 it says:

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

God doesn’t want us to be stuck in our bitter& self pity cycle. He wants us to reach our full, fruitful potential in life.

But we can’t meet our full potential if we constantly let our minds and hearts be full of hatred and self pity.

You can live your life bitter, mad at someone or even guilty over something that you’ve done, but you won’t receive God’s best and God’s miracles and opportunities that he has in store for your life.

If someone says something bad about you, or if they despise you, it’s God testing you. God is testing you and also, giving you a opportunity to be good back to your enemies, to have compassion& forgiveness for the ones who despise and dislike us. Bless your enemies.

The sooner you learn to bless your enemies, to be good to those who done you wrong, the better off you’re going to be in life. And sometimes, the way you bless your enemy is by not talking bad about them. Don’t gossip about them, hold a grudge against them or wish bad upon them, bless them, pray for them, forgive them and move on.

You can come out bitter or better. There was a reason for your pain and mistakes.

When you face a situation where you can be bitter, angry or guilty at yourself or someone, you can choose to be bitter or better than the situation. You can rise above your negative thoughts, or other people’s negativity. Look to Jesus, and allow him to take your bad situation or conflict& turn it into a blessing or opportunity to show your enemies God’s best from you.

Forgiving is not easy, but it’s simpler than holding a grudge.

I’ll end my blog with a prayer from my heartโค

Heavenly father,

Please take my bitterness and turn it into love. Take my anger and hurt that I have for other people& replace it with forgiveness and compassion. Help me forgive people easier and help me be a better Christian. Bless the one’s who dislike me& bless their lives. Watch over them and protect them Lord. Make my heart purer and more loving. I give all my bitterness to you God.๐Ÿ™Œ

The pain of rejection

Galatians 1:10

If there is one thing that can make someone feel like they donโ€™t have a friend in the world, itโ€™s rejection. Whether it be rejection from a friend, family gossip, a friendโ€™s betrayal, an unappreciative boss or an unfriendly, insensitive person. Rejection hurts.

I’ve had my fair share of memories& situations of being& feeling rejected by people and their high expectations. I used to let rejection eat me up. And it used to hurt my feelings a lot.In the midst of this rejection, I became so focused on my hurt feelings that it became nearly impossible to think clearly, or rationally.

Most of us when we are drowning in the pain of being rejected by someone, our thoughts are often, โ€œHow could that person have done/said that to me? Do they know how much I have done for them? Have they taken a hard look at themselves?โ€

Do those words sound familiar? They certainly do to me. These are some of the exact thoughts I had when I was thinking vengeful thoughts about my โ€œrejecter.โ€

My human nature wanted to get back at the one who hurt me. Maybe give them a taste of their own medicine. But God had a different plan in mind.

God desired for me to handle these challenging and painful situation with understanding and compassion.โค

He wanted me to pray for that person, and see them as His child who had made a mistake and didnโ€™t realize how their words and actions affected others. He wanted me to forgive them.

Yes, that was His plan, but I didnโ€™t really buy into it at first.

Instead, I chose to hold in anger and pierce the ears of my family and friends with all of my problems forcing them to be an involuntary guest at my ongoing pity party. I chose to feel sorry for myself& shed as many tears as possible as if that would drown out the hurt.

However, despite my procrastination in handling things Godโ€™s way over the next few weeks, God repeatedly intervened and reassured me of His love. I stumbled across sweet Bible verses dealing with overcoming rejection. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’“

I love Galatians 1:10 because it fully supports my point not to try to please “man”, PLEASE GOD๐Ÿ’•

โ€œAm I now trying to win the approval of men, or God? Or am I still trying to please men?If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.โ€ Galatians 1:10

Im starting to finally understand and realize that in His eyes, I did not need people’s approval, only His approval.

Godโ€™s love had helped me to wash away the pride from my eyes, and allow Him to wash my soul with His mercy and grace.๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’—

Isnโ€™t it so comforting to know that you never have to try to earn Jesusโ€™s approval& that you can live with a peace of mind knowing that He accepts you no matter what.
Although Jesus may not always approve of our actions or choices, He always approves of us as a person who He created, who He loves& who He thought was important enough to die for.

I’ll end my blog with a prayer that I truly feel from my heartโค

You guys have a amazing weekend& thank you to everyone who reads my blog all the time& encourages me everyday to keep blogging!๐Ÿ’“ I’ve gotten so many sweet emails and text from you guys so thank you so much for joining me on my christian-mommy blogging journey!๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

Heavenly father,

I pray for Your wisdom on how to deal with situations in which I feel hurt, rejected and worthless. Fill me with Your love so that I can love others, even when I do not feel loved in return. Please help me to remember that the only One who I need to seek approval from is You, and that it is in You alone, that I can truly believe that I am worthy and unconditionally loved.

Reading the bible to Wyatt!๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’™

Hey guys! I’m so excited to talk about the bible& reading it to my son everyday๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™Œ

Before Wyatt was born I made it clear that he HAD to have his own personalized, baby bible. I think it’s super important to teach your baby even at the youngest ages about the Lord.

Keepsake bible for Wyatt and has his name engraved inside๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

I know at my sons age(1 year) he doesn’t understand what I’m saying or the meanings behind what I preach to him. But that doesn’t necessarily mean I shouldn’t read to him about the bible!๐Ÿ“–

In my opinion, I feel like reading to your infants& toddlers bible scriptures isn’t really about them trying to understand what your saying or your meaning, it’s about blessing your baby with the word that WE understand& to speak scriptures to them that will protect& put Jesus’s mark on their hearts.โค

Every day I choose a different scripture to tell Wyatt, and everyday I feel like hes loving our quiet bible study together more and more!(my husband included!!)โค

He has two rocking chairs in his room, so we let Wyatt pick which one he wants to rock in that day, and we rock him for a few minutes.(this helps settle him more for little bible study time!)

I always pick which verse I want to talk about before we get in the room so it doesnt waste time& Wyatt won’t get disinterested!

When we start talking about the bible verse I picked for that day, it’s a really beautiful thing to have my son on my lap listening and smiling&having my husband in the other rocking chair, supporting, asking questions& being 100 percent into every bible study๐Ÿ’•

After our little bible study is over I always end it in prayer!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’“(it’s amazing how quiet Wyatt is while I’m praying too!) Its pretty awesome!๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

I think my favorite bible verse that I always tell Wyatt all the time is 1 Samuel 1:27

For this child I prayed and the lord has granted the desires of my heart.”

1 samuel 1:27โค

I say that verse to him almsot everyday because he truly is my miracle baby!โค I couldn’t of asked or gotten a more perfect, sweet, handsome passionate baby๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’™ (Wyatt is just a amazing baby)โค

It’s little things like having a 10-15 minute bible study everyday as a family that keeps up so close together.๐Ÿ’™

We look forward to our bible study time everyday because whether we had a good or bad day, we talk about it and incorporate the scripture into our real life situations to help us through anything that life throws our way!!๐Ÿ‘ช๐Ÿ’•

I thank God for giving me my husband and my son. They are the best people in the world TRULY.๐Ÿ™Œโค

I’ll end this blog with a prayer,

Heavenly father,

I thank you for my little family& I thank you for your words that keep us going in life without fear! I thank you for all the hard and good times because its shaped me into the woman that I am today. Thank you for the tribulations, rejection& situations that I thought would kill me. They made me stronger then I ever have been before. In my weakest days, you carried me through my worst storms and to my peace& true calling in life. Being a mother.โค I praise you for giving me the one thing that kept me alive when I just wanted to give up completely. Me and my little family give you all the love and praise you deserve God. Thank you for everything.๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’•
